OPAAL Members Day & AGM – 20th September 2016

This year’s OPAAL Members Day & AGM will take place on Tuesday 20th September 2016 in London.

This year we have changed things slightly and are inviting previous members to this event to showcase what we do at OPAAL and share our exciting future plans. If you are aware of anyone who would like to come along, feel free to forward this email to them.

We have a fantastic line up of four confirmed speakers this year.

Sanchita Hosili, Deputy Director of BIHR will be telling us about the Human Rights periodic review, OPAAL has enjoyed working with the BIHR on this work and look forward to sharing some of the outcomes with members.

Julie Ridley will be sharing with us the findings from the University of Birmingham’s recent work on their research into commissioning Care Act Advocacy, which I’m sure, will be of great interest to many of you.

Shaben Begum Director of our sister organisation in Scotland SIAA will be binging us up to date with developments north of the border.

Louise Hughes Programme Manager for the new all Wales Golden Thread programme will also be bringing us all up to speed with the rapid developments in advocacy in Wales.

We are using a new venue this year at Mary Ward House Conference and Exhibition Centre, 5-7 Tavistock Place. Location details can be found here. This is very central only a five-minute walk from Euston.

We are all very aware things are very tight for organisations, many of whom are operating on reduced budgets whilst attempting to meet increasing levels of demand. However I hope to see as many of you as possible and look forward to catching up with you on the day.

Please confirm your attendance by Friday 2nd September 2016 to our Administrator Debbie Woodward via the email reply slip here. Please be sure to let her know if you have any special dietary or access requirements.

Please also note that places are limited so will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
