Older Peoples Cancer Voices
This project is being delivered with support from Department of Health under the Innovation, Excellence and Service Delivery scheme and will run to Sept 2017.
Older People’s Cancer Voices is about ensuring the voices of older people affected by cancer are heard by ‘decision makers’ i.e. commissioners and health and social care professionals. OPAAL aims to build relationships in 4 areas between CCGs and advocacy organisations supporting older people affected by cancer, developing best practice guidance for other Cancer, Older People and Advocacy partners, OPAAL members and the wider advocacy sector on how to do this.
OPAAL is developing a series of filmed case studies to tell the story of cancer advocacy; these films and the ‘how to influence’ toolkit will complement each other – we aim to learn ‘what works best’ when influencing commissioners and health and social care professionals to refer to and fund independent advocacy for older people affected by cancer
