The Older People’s Cancer Voices steering group recognised quite early on in the development of the OPCV work programme that if older people were to be heard by health and care professionals we needed to look at how they are connected in their local communities.

OPAAL commissioned West Lancashire CVS to develop this learner pack for advocates supporting older people, to support the legacy of OPCV.

This pack has been developed for you to download and work through, exploring the background to Asset-Based Community Development, some ABCD tools – how advocates can put them into practice, how to identify and build community connectors; and finally you’ll find out how to become part of the ABCD community.
