CAB are working to raise awareness of Pension Credit to ensure eligible retirees receive the financial boost they deserve. This is especially important now, given recent changes to winter fuel payment that require recipients to be in receipt of a low-income benefit such as Pension Credit.
The rising energy costs are placing significant pressure on older residents. With Ofgem predicting a 10% increase in household energy bills. This could push many pensioners into fuel poverty. CAB’s campaign, running from September 2024 to January 2024, aims to reach older residents who may be unaware of this benefit or hesitant to claim it.
By promoting this campaign and highlighting the Citizens Advice Bureau as a trusted resource for guidance in the application process, we are helping ensure that more people are aware of this valuable benefit and increase the uptake of Pension Credit among eligible people.
Here’s what they wanted to say to our audience,
Are you over retirement age and on a low income? You may be eligible for Pension Credit, which offers extra money to help with living costs, and can also provide extra support if you care for someone or receive a health-related benefit.
Claiming Pension Credit may also make you eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment, worth up to £300, as well as other assistance to help with housing and healthcare costs. The deadline to qualify for this year’s Winter Fuel Payment is the 21st of December 2024.
