Important information about the EU settlement scheme

This is an important message for any EU, EEA and Swiss citizens resident in the UK and their non-EU family members. If you have yet to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme you need to do this before 30 June 2021.

As you may know, the EU Settlement Scheme allows EU, EEA and Swiss citizens resident in the UK by 31 December 2020, and their family members, to obtain the immigration status they need to continue to live, work and study in the UK beyond 30 June 2021. Successful applicants will receive either settled status or pre-settled status, meaning they will continue to be eligible for public services, such as healthcare, public funds and pensions. It is free to apply to the scheme and the deadline for applications is 30 June 2021.

It’s vital older citizens to apply to the scheme to protect their rights.

Support is available from the Home Office in a variety of ways, including digital and translating help. And of course, independent advocates can help too.

The main point is though that the application must be made in good time, to avoid citizenship rights being withdrawn.

Here is the link to the leaflet explaining all about the scheme and how to apply.
